Oyster Zone 3
international Urban Photography Summer School 2013
The seperation of London in zones through the public transport system seemed to be something I can use as an approach to the streets of London for my final project: as a tourist these zones do not really influence your encounter of the city as most travellers only explore the centre. But for citizens it has a huge impact on residential segregation, expenses and social lives.
For the presentation I chose three picture sequences of different business companies. Even though these photographs do not indicate the actual area and could have been taken all over the UK, these shops are located in places where only residents of the immediate suburbian "periphery" come along. Thus the Oyster zones constitute an invisible border.
