Wandering Scholars.
How to get in touch with strangers
A group of eight people films the city of Vienna in all its various facets – within a single day. The condition: only hands should be filmed. Hands that explore the urban environment and, in doing so, will later introduce the city to the audience. The day after, four film sequences are created to be presented as an installation later that day. The sound is live edited whereby a unique city portrait, a snapshot in time occurs. The short episodes of Viennese everyday life show strangers who pursue their jobs or just enjoy leisure. The audience wanders across the room shifting their attention from one screen to the next.
This is an extract only showing two of the four original sequences. With the sound regulation of your speakers you are now in charge of shifting the audio from the left sound output to the right (and back again). You can decide to which story you would like to listen to.
