Cuba
December 2012 to January 2013
The 1st of January 2013 was supposed to go down in Cuban history. Or at least that's what foreigners expected when on this day, Cubans officially obtained travel freedom. These pictures were taken between Christmas 2012 and a few days after New Year's Eve (over a total course of three weeks). They do not only depict the time of a crucial social turning point: they where also taken two years before the United States loosened their embargo against the Carribean island state and thus, before its geopolitical and economic stance has permanently changed.
